It was early last nite when i decided to snooz off to my bed (not exactly a bed, it is a Kate-Mossy thin Serikin quilted-matress on the floor). When it was about the time my dream started to perform it's overture, i heard *tooooot tooooot*( bukan ringtone sebenar). Dalam malas, ku gagahi jua untuk menjawab. looking at the caller's name "urm....loren (nama x berapa nak benar)? pahal tek?"
This is the synopsis:
Loren's is away for his 1 year course, together with another fren of mine, Kay-Bee. It had been quite a trouble for this batch of students to get everything done as the result of the intake was only known 4 days before they had to leave for the course....yeah, u read it rite. 4 crazy-cannot-believe-it days! and this includes saturdays n sundays. not enuf for them to settle with things, numerous forms, angkat sumpah n stuff, ambik gambar, resignation from current jobs, buying all their needs and the list can goes on from Kuching to Miri (arum bulak tek lah). I dont know why such short-notice was given. was they (whoever it may concern) did even give any thought about all how much trouble it'll cause? or they just simply dont give a $#!* ? dalam kesibukan itu, these people managed to complete most of the requirements. thank god!. mungkin ini yang cuba dilahirkan: mereka yang biasa bekerja dalam keadaan kelam kabut, membuat kerja dengan hati yg penuh sumpah seranah, and whines more and more. hurm, not sure bout this...tapi macam menjadi jer....
After all the on-paper stuffs were done, so terbanglah my two frens...only to know more troubles are waiting. upon registration, they were told that the hostel is only for them to stay for 2-weeks, n after that they n their pity-ass are off to go. where to? to go and carik rumah sewa in that town which is well-known for the super mahal rumah sewa. even a single-story, two bedroom terrace house can caused up to RM750 (this is told by a local fren of mine). and their(the management) reasons are because they dont have ample rooms for the new students and "kamurang elaun kan besar. xkan x mampu?" hello!!! with the not-to-be-mentioned amount, with car's installment to pay, and sum even have a family (or two) to support...apa ko ingat cukup kah? oklah, if u dont have enuf rooms, fine. dont have to mention bout the "elaun ko besar" thing. if u (the person who talked) being paid for that much with such pre-course burdens to support, what say u? belum lagi elaun tu dipotong untuk blazer lah, yuran itulah, inilah, loan laptop lah, photocopy notes lah...and at the end of the month, lahirlah golongan yang survive berlandaskan mee maggi (ini bukan iklan) n saki baki makanan tin...yang kadang2 dikongsi. aiya....
So the frens of mine pergilah dengan hati yang berat ke "bilik sementara" itu. n u know what? it happened to be the "bilik TV" for the hostel, n the doorknobs are missing, menambahkan perasaan insecure ke dalam hati my two frens about their belongings (bukan nak cakap orang hostel tu suka mencuri, tapi manusia tetap manusia, kan?) Thereafter, one after another manusia senasib coming to the room. "orang serawak kah?"..."aok" and this same Q&A keeps on going for a few "freshies" there (freshies lah ya, even ada yg dah ada anak-bini). and they started to wonder, why only sarawakians were there, and where were the "locals"? Then only they found out that the "locals" managed to get themselves rooms in the hostels. Aih? bukan purpose asrama adalah untuk mereka yang berasal dari luar kawasan meh? what new rules are they implying here?
Back to me...no more loren's story...
I'm not here to judge, what more to criticize (betulkah spelling?). It's just sum of the times, sum of these problems were overlooked by the colleges (or even the higher authorities). Belum apa2 sudah hilangkan mood org utk berkhidmat, n giving a bad impression of the job. But the hostel thingy only happens to this particular college, as Loren told there was no complain heard (yet) from any of his frens who landed themselves on other colleges. Hurm...what's with these people from this particular place with Sarawakian? I had my fair-share of the locals n that's why i dare to say this. Am not generalizing the locals, there are oso sum gud frens i made along the way, but believe me, quite a number of them really did get on my nerves...nuff said.
*notes:
After we both hung-up, i didnt managed to get back to slumberland. not untill 4am. and i ended waking up late this morning (nasib bait school is just 15 steps away *sigh*)
